Estate Cabernet Franc

2014 Estate Cabernet Franc

Aromas of bay leaf and cured meats combine with flavors of ripe berries & cherries, with roasted nuts on the finish. This is a fruit forward wine, as is typical with Cabernet Franc. Dusty tannins in the mouth, along with a full body, make this an all-around delicious wine.

OLDER VINTAGES

2013 Estate Cabernet Franc

This wine features a mix of flavors including Rainier cherries, baking cherries, pencil lead, and the scent of forest floor after a light rain. A second sniff releases the smell of bread coming out of the toaster and a splash of Coca-Cola. Medium tannins and a touch of acidity bring the fruit flavors into balance.

“This wine is perfect for when I want something a little lighter than our traditional Cabernet Sauvignon.”
-- Debbie DeWitt, Wife of our Winemaker

2012 Estate Cabernet Franc

This is a classic Cabernet Franc with delicate tannins and a softer, more elegant style than our Cabernet Sauvignon. The nose features scents of raspberries and pie cherries with a background of green bell peppers. The wine has medium body and a great mouth feel, with exceptional balance. It is very approachable right now, and will continue to gain complexity over the next 4 years.

2010 Estate Cabernet Franc

The 2010 vintage in Walla Walla started with a cool spring and summer that yielded small berries and concentrated flavors. The growing season ended with an ideal autumn, enabling ripe berries with a wonderful balance between sugar levels and acidity.

This wine is bursting with bright fruit characteristics, scents of green olives and the intriguing depth of a cigar-box. All of the elements of a cherry pie are here—without the sugary sweetness—down to the pastry crust and whipped cream. Flavors on the palate live up to what the nose alluded to; filling the mouth with bright acidity, soft tannins and a lengthy finish.

2009 Estate Cabernet Franc

This was our first release of Cabernet Franc. The grape has a long history with our winery as a blending grape, but now has a chance to shine on its own.

This is also the debut of our new style of labels showcasing vintage train pictures.

Scents of caramel, ripe blackberries and black olives show on the nose, followed by bay leaf, black tea, some cinnamon. Flavors go beyond what the deep color suggests, including hints of wet Walla Walla dirt and shoe leather. It has great balance, and true to Cabernet Franc, provides a long lasting finish.
